Sincerity and openness in combination with a sense of fun and team spirit set the ground for Oliver Wyman’s unique culture.

Maike - Senior Consultant

My career at Oliver WymanI am Maike Sauer and I am a Senior Consultant who recently shifted from our Dusseldorf office to the beautiful new Berlin office. Since I joined two years ago, I have devided my time between projects mainly in two practices: Health & Life Sciences as well as Retail & Consumer Goods.

While practicing case studies for the interviews, I met a lot of people who all were applying at strategy consulting firms. I heard the most diverse opinions about the different consultancies but they all were on the same page concerning one matter: Everyone who had come in touch with Oliver Wyman (a firm that didn't ring a bell with me at that time) said there was something unique about the open-minded people and the welcoming atmosphere. After two years with Oliver Wyman, I am more than convinced that our great culture and positive work environment are aboslutely special.

My background, motivation and life outside workAfter studying Biomedical Sciences in Marburg, I completed my PhD in Tumor Biology from the University of Cologne which included a six months research stay at NUS in Singapore. I was aiming to continuously challenge myself, to get to know multiple industries and functions, to work in a dynamic environment, and to generate results that are of actual value and impact. That's why consulting was and is the way to go.

Outside of work, I love to travel (previous stop: Ghana, next stop: Myanmar). I enjoy calming down while observing colorful fish when scuba diving or getting out of a breath while cutting my record when free diving.
