In an era where misinformation spreads faster than ever, ensuring people have access to accurate, trustworthy information is critical — especially in healthcare, where false or bad information can be life threatening. Full Fact, the UK’s leading fact-checking organization, has been at the forefront of this mission, using a powerful combination of expert fact-checkers and world-class digital tools to combat false information.
The organization has been at the forefront of using machine learning to improve and scale fact-checking, and its suite of products leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to collect and monitor data and identify and label claims, often in real-time. These products are available to companies, the media and other interested parties via a paid license. Now, with support from Oliver Wyman, Full Fact is exploring new ways to scale its impact by commercializing its fact-checking technology with the healthcare sector.
Working with Full Fact was incredibly rewarding. By targeting healthcare and identifying potential partners, we built a roadmap that supports their financial goals while amplifying their mission against misinformation. Our collaboration ensures Full Fact is well-equipped to make a lasting impactMatias Goodwin, Associate, Oliver Wyman
Our team was tasked with identifying sustainable revenue streams to help Full Fact expand its reach. Given the significant consequences of misinformation in healthcare — from vaccine hesitancy to the spread of false medical claims — the team set out to assess the commercial potential of Full Fact’s tools in this critical industry.
As part of our Social Impact program, the project was staffed with the same rigor as any commercial engagement. A dedicated team, including partners and industry experts, conducted a 10-week deep dive into healthcare customer segments. Through extensive expert interviews and market research, the team identified 300 high-priority healthcare customers most suited to Full Fact’s services. Additionally, tailored pricing strategies were developed to ensure Full Fact could capture the full value of its tools while maintaining accessibility.
Our collaboration provided Full Fact with a clear, actionable roadmap that will help it achieve its revenue objectives and continue its vital work in combating misinformation. By turning its expertise into a scalable solution, Full Fact is now positioned to bring trusted, fact-based insights to some of the most crucial areas of public health.
Our work with Full Fact shed light on the impact of misinformation in healthcare. Helping them develop a strategic approach to support NGOs in tackling false information and improving patient outcomes was especially rewarding.
