What does it take to build the next generation of global women leaders? For the World Academy for the Future of Women (WAFW), it starts with purpose, passion, and a commitment to action. And this year, with strategic support from our teams in Munich and New York, that mission was given renewed energy and direction on the world stage.
WAFW is a unique and forward-looking leadership program designed to empower university women for global leadership roles. It’s built around a core belief: that young women — and the men who support them — are essential to achieving gender equality, social justice, and human dignity. Through immersive, action-based learning and mentorship, WAFW helps participants define their vision, strengthen their voice, and take ownership of their path to leadership.

In March, WAFW’s momentum reached new heights during a transformative week in New York. With members of our Munich and New York teams collaborating closely on content, structure, and facilitation, the week kicked off with a two-day summit to shape the academy’s future. Together with WAFW leaders, the group refined the program’s strategy, clarified its mission, and designed a more sustainable and scalable organizational structure.
Working on this project has been an incredibly rewarding experience. It has given me the opportunity to collaborate with an organization that truly shares my passion for social impact. The week culminated in a milestone presentation at a parallel event during the 69th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. WAFW unveiled its renewed mission: to prepare future women leaders through a global leadership program rooted in action, facilitated by international volunteers from partner universities. Its updated vision? To advance women’s leadership on a global scale by unlocking the potential of university-based women everywhere. The strategic refresh also included a financial planning framework to support long-term growth and coordination. Perhaps most excitingly, the presentation helped forge new connections with universities in Nigeria, South Africa, and Cameroon, expanding WAFW’s global reach and potential impact.
With renewed clarity, new allies, and the backing of our global expertise, the World Academy for the Future of Women is stepping confidently into its next chapter.
